If healthy dining is your first priority, just say no to fried chicken, fried fish, fried potatoes and all their loaded-fat friends. And if you have a lapse at least remove the breading before you chow down.
If you are not sure whether the item is fried, just ask.
Next to sharing an entree, this is my favorite strategy when dining healthy, especially in an upscale restaurant. Open the menu and simply ignore the entrees. Go immediately to the appetizers, sides and salads.
Memorize the following phrase, and you can save unwanted fat calories: Please bring the sauce (or salad dressing) on the side.
Enjoy healthy dining by split dishes or leftovers.
The more food on your plate, the more you eat. So tactic number one is to share an entree with someone. Another healthy dining alternative is to order an entree yourself, eat half, and take the rest home.
Ask your waiter to remove the bread from the plates. Take a roll, if you must, but do npt slather on the butter. To really dine healthy drink a glass of ice water with lemon before you begin your meal, to jump-start that full feeling.
The best means of dining healthy in a restaurant is to pass on the desert. Your challenge is to enjoy a coffee to extend the time without damaging your diet. Desert is clearly a big no-no, but if you've been good all week, so you can indulge in a treat. Just make sure you share your desert with your company.
